Uttam Udayan, MD, MBBS, is an Assistant Professor of Medical Education, teaching medical microbiology and immunology at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley School of Medicine.
Dr. Udayan has over ten years of teaching experience in international medical schools. He previously served as Associate Professor of the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the Trinity Medical Sciences University and American University of Antigua (AUA) College of Medicine with a curriculum integrated with USMLE/ NBME policies. Dr. Udayan served as the Chair of AUA appeals committee. Another notable international teaching experience of his was at the Jinan University, Guangzhou, China, as Assistant Professor in Microbiology and Immunology.
Dr. Udayan completed his Doctor of Medicine in medical microbiology from Father Muller Medical College, Mangalore, India and his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery, from Sri Devaraj Urs Medical college, Kolar, Inda. He practiced as a general practitioner for over five years before majoring in microbiology, enabling effective delivery of content to future doctors.
Dr. Udayan’s research focused on the understanding of diagnosing infectious diseases, awareness about infectious diseases among the general population, and factors affecting students’ performance in a medical school.
