Departmental Scholarships
UTRGV has several departmental scholarships offered through various university departments. Scholarships are awarded based on donor or grant criteria, and each has its deadline. Scholarship award amounts vary by program.- Some departments award scholarships once per academic year, and others are renewable for up to X semesters.
- Departmental scholarship funds can be applied towards university charges.

College Access & K-12 Partnership
College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP) Edinburg Campus
- Program Description: CAMP provides monthly training stipends to students who are migratory or seasonal farmworkers (or children of such workers) enrolled in their first year of undergraduate studies. To qualify for CAMP, students must meet the admission requirements for UTRGV, must apply and be accepted to CAMP, enroll as a full-time student at UTRGV, and be a U.S. citizen or a legal resident. Monthly stipend amounts vary based on student’s unmet financial aid need and student training events.

College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP) Brownsville Campus
- Program Description: First-year students who have a migrant/seasonal Farmworker background (or whose parents have a migrant/seasonal Farmworker background) who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents with less than 24 post-high school college credit hours are eligible to apply to the CAMP program. Students who actively participate and meet program requirements are eligible to receive academic and financial assistance through course supplies, stipends, and housing scholarships.

Greater Texas Foundation
- Program Description: The Greater Texas Foundation (GTF) Scholars Program provides cohorts of early college high school (ECHS) graduates with academic, social, and financial support as they transition to UTRGV. Students selected to participate may maintain their eligibility for up to three years or until they successfully complete a baccalaureate, whichever comes first. Scholarship awards are calculated individually each semester and may vary depending upon a student’s individual financial aid package.

Vocational Rehab Counseling
- Program Description: The MS in Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling Program offers students the theoretical framework and experiential tools necessary to work with people with various disabilities, including physical, cognitive, intellectual, and psychiatric. Our program prepares students for various licenses/certifications, such as LPC, LCDC and CRC, to help promote culturally competent mental health services within various communities.

Scholarship for Disadvantaged Students
- Program Description: The Scholarship for Disadvantaged Students was awarded specifically for the Medical Laboratory Science program students. The SDS will allow students with disadvantaged backgrounds in the Rio Grande Valley to obtain higher education in a rigorous and under-staffed healthcare profession. The high increase of laboratory tests being developed, including novel molecular testing requires trained, specialized medical laboratory scientists to perform, analyze and interpret laboratory data. The UTRGV MLS program remains committed to provide healthcare professionals in medically underserved communities of the Rio Grande Valley and allow our students to focus on their studies without financial worries.

B2MED Scholarship
- Program Description: The B2BMED program is a 2-year research training program supported by the NIH Bridges to the Baccalaureate Research Training Program (T34). Scholars in this program will bridge from South Texas College’s (STC) or Texas Southmost College’s (TSC) to UTRGV's Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science Program (BMED).
- The 2 years of the funded B2BMED program consists of:
- 2nd year of your associate degree (2nd full year at STC or TSC)
- 1st year of bachelor’s degree (1st full year at UTRGV BMED)
- The B2BMED scholars are required to be full-time students and maintain a GPA ≥ 3.0 to stay in the program and receive the B2BMED scholarship (stipend).
- The B2BMED program offers the B2BMED Scholarship specifically to the B2BMED scholars (students from TSC/TSC transitioning to UTRGV BMED).

- Program Description: This scholarship is for students pursuing a degree in the College of Fine Arts and pursuing either Dance, Theatre, Music Large Ensemble. The scholarship is offered at the discretion of the Music Chair or Dean. Scholarships awarded by semester.

USDA BE AWARE 2
- Program Description: The USDA BE AWARE 2 Scholarship is for undergraduate students in the Biology Bachelor’s program graduate students in either the Biology or Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Master’s programs. Welch Foundation
- Program Description: The Welch Scholarship at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) is open to any student who has had at least 20 hours of credit in Chemistry and is in good standing. Through funding from the Welch Foundation it aims to: 1. recruit and retain and promote academically talented students to pursue career in Chemistry; and 2. provide quality training, development, education, and student support through scholarship and other support to enable them to excel in chemical sciences and finish their degree in a timely manner.

Robert C. Vackar College of Business & Entrepreneurship Graduate Scholarship
- Program Description: The Robert C. Vackar College of Business & Entrepreneurship Graduate Scholarship offers graduate students from the Global Commerce (MS) and the User Experience and User Interface Design Certificate programs a great opportunity to help fund their studies at UTRGV. The award consists of a one-time, $1,500 scholarship.
