Strategies to Improve Online Presence

Time: 12:20 PM - 1:50 PM
Location: Brownsville (BMAIN 1.312) and Edinburg (EEDUC 3.224)

Establishing a connection with online learners is a demonstrated strategy for increasing student motivation in online classes (Jones, Kolloff & Kolloff, 2008). The challenge of keeping our online students engaged and motivated is common across disciplines, and without face-to-face contact, it is difficult to know if students are engaged and enthusiastic about the course in general. In this session, we will discuss strategies to improve online presence and explore tools for “humanizing” your online course.

Update Your Profile Pictures

Brownsville Campus: 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM
Edinburg Campus: 11:00AM - 12:00PM

Need an updated photo for your instructor bio on Blackboard? Photographers from University Marketing and Communications have been scheduled to take your photograph during our open house. The instructor bio is often the first introduction that students will have to you–as an educator and a subject matter expert.  A picture can add a nice touch to your instructor biography, as it provides students with a face to your name.

For more information or special accommodations, please contact the Center for Online Learning and Teaching Technology in Edinburg (956) 665-5327 or Brownsville (956) 882-6792.
