Office 365 ProPlus


Office 365 ProPlus is a full version of Microsoft Office software available absolutely free to currently enrolled students and active employees through Office 365. Software available through this program include: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, Access, Publisher, and Skype for Business. Office 365 ProPlus allows installation of Microsoft Office on up to 5 computers. Instructions are found inside their Office 365 Outlook Web Apps (OWA) interface portal.


The software has the same features and functionality as other versions of Microsoft Office. By default, Office 365 ProPlus installs as one package. Users can install Office 365 ProPlus on up to five different personal computers with a single Office 365 license. Users don’t need to be connected to the Internet all the time to use Office 365 ProPlus. However, users must connect to the Internet at least once every 30 days. This is so that the status of their Office 365 subscriptions can be checked. If users don’t connect within 30 days, Office 365 ProPlus goes into reduced functionality mode. Once users connect to the Internet and their subscription status is verified, all the features of Office 365 ProPlus become available again.

Hours of Availability

24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Service may be unavailable during Microsoft scheduled maintenance periods.

Service Access

Access to this service is automatically granted to currently enrolled UTRGV Students.

  • Login in to
  • Click the Office 365 icon under Applications 
  • Click Office 365 from the top menu and click Install Office 2016
  • If prompted, enter your full UTRGV email address and then enter your password
  • Click the Install Now button 
  • Click Run on the pop-up window and follow the installation wizard prompts to complete installation

Service Request

No Service Request required. Access to this service is automatically granted to UTRGV Students, Faculty, and Staff (See Service Access above).
