Dear Faculty and Staff -
As many of you have heard in the news, the U.S. Government is currently experiencing a partial shutdown. During the shutdown, the University has received emails from some Federal sponsors informing grantees that their grant staff may be out during the shutdown, however, most sponsors and their staff continue to be operational.
Please note that grants proposals will continue to be submitted and there are no changes to current deadlines. Grants.gov states on their main website page that they will remain in Operational status. The Grants.gov Support Center is available for any inquiries regarding proposal submissions. Grants.gov may be found through this link: https://www.grants.gov/web/grants/home.html
The National Science Foundation (NSF) has posted that they will continue to receive proposals and applicants should continue to follow the current deadlines. However, proposals will not be reviewed nor processed until normal operations resume. Delays from NSF and other Federal agencies will be in issuing new awards and release of payments requested. In addition, new funding opportunities will not be issued until the federal government has resumed normal operations. Additional guidance regarding NSF can be found through this link: https://www.nsf.gov/shutdown/grantees.jsp.
The National Institutes of Health have stated on their website that they remain operational during the current partial government shutdown.
There may be a slight impact to University or Federal grant-funded positions. Currently all programs should continue to operate as usual. We can expect researchers and other grant staff to have delays in work if work needs to be conducted at any federal sites, such as the U.S. Department of Agriculture and at federally operated parks.
Drawdown systems continue to operate as well--as these are previously appropriated funds and are automatic systems. Delays may occur in requests for reimbursements, and, release of payments may be delayed by sponsors until they resume normal operations.
Please note that any questions or concerns regarding new federal proposal applications, current federals awards, or financial questions may be sent to the following offices.
