A Message from the President

Dear Faculty and Staff,

I am writing to update you on hiring for UTRGV. As of November 20, we have hired more than 1,000 faculty and staff, including most of the Vice Presidents or Unit Heads, and we have posted or are currently posting non-supervisory positions for the following units:

  • Phase II-A Faculty (i.e., lecturers and clinical faculty) – applications are currently under review
  • Grant funded positions
  • Administrative support staff
  • Enrollment staff
  • Librarians
  • IT staff
  • Marketing and communications staff
  • Advancement staff
  • Finance and administration staff

For most of these positions, we will use a process much like that used for the Phase I faculty hires: applicants must express an interest in filling a comparable position at UTRGV; must not have negative evaluations over the last three years; and must not have a disciplinary action taken against them over the last seven years.

In addition, unit leads may conduct interviews to gain commitment and understanding of future reorganization goals and campus assignments. Since most units are still being organized, the position you receive now may not be your exact assignment within the unit, and your role and responsibilities may change somewhat as the organization is fully developed. However, by using this process, we can offer a significant number of UTRGV positions over the next few weeks.

While this process will not complete our hiring, it will offer opportunities for which the vast majority of UTPA and UTB/TSC employees will receive serious consideration. Accepting a position through this process will NOT preclude staff from applying for other UTRGV positions that are advertised later.
