BROWNSVILLE, TEXAS – October 12, 2015 – Student success is pivotal for The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, and to pave the way to that success, easy access to university services is critical.

To that end, the university is unveiling U Central, a one-stop shop that works with various offices across campuses to centralize  enrollment services via one point of contact.

U Central will be unveiled Monday, Oct. 12, with ribbon cutting ceremonies on UTRGV’s Brownsville and Edinburg campuses.

Carlo Tamayo, director of the Student Services Center / U Central, said U Central is a center where students can visit and receive information and help on financial aid, registration and admissions issues.

“It’s a one-stop with cross-trained staff,” he said. “It’s a new way of delivering the different services.”

UTRGV Founding President Guy Bailey and his staff will attend both ribbon-cutting ceremonies, which are meant to let the campus community know about all the services available to students through U Central.

On the Brownsville Campus, the event starts at 9:30 a.m. with remarks at El Gran Patio, the courtyard located at Main Building. The ribbon-cutting follows in The Tower.

On the Edinburg Campus, the event starts at 2 p.m. at the Student Services Building, by the North Entrance.

Students, faculty, staff and the community are invited. Light refreshments will be served.
