UTRGV athletics to launch branding initiative during Saturday's UTPA men's basketball game


EDINBURG, TEXAS-MARCH 4– The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced on Wednesday that the first 2,000 fans in attendance at Saturday’s 2 p.m. University of Texas-Pan American (UTPA) men’s basketball game against Kansas City at the UTPA Fieldhouse will receive free UTRGV Vaqueros t-shirts as part of the launch of the department’s branding initiative, #WeAreOne.

At halftime of the game, UTRGV Athletics will unveil the first look at what some of its uniforms will look like next year in addition to an expected announcement regarding the department’s official apparel brand. There will also be a video detailing the process of choosing the Vaqueros logos and word marks.

The festivities begin in the UTPA Fieldhouse parking lot at 12:30 p.m. with performances by the UTPA and University of Texas at Brownsville/Texas Southmost College (UTB/TSC) cheerleaders, dance teams and drum lines. There will also be a special visit by the South Texas Trail Riders.

UTPA and UTB/TSC students, faculty and staff will receive free general admission.

Adult general admission tickets, which normally cost $8, will be sold for the discounted price of $5.

General admission seating for senior citizens (ages 65 and up) and young adults (ages 13-17) will remain $5, while those for children (ages 12 and under) will remain $3.

Chair back reserved seats remain $12 for adults, $8 for senior citizens and young adults, and $5 for children.

The game will be televised nationally on American Sports Network.
