CACREP Process Timeline (tentative)

October 2016 – consultant unofficial site visit

March 2017 – self-study submitted

June 2017 – addendum submitted

July 2017 – official site visit approval

September 2017 – consultant unofficial site visit

April 8-11, 2018 – official site visit

July 2018 – CACREP full board review

August 2018 – accreditation conferred

*** As per CACREP Policies Governing Recognition of Graduates 5.a. – Program Graduate Qualifications for Initial Accreditation, Students in a program seeking accreditation shall be considered graduates of a CACREP program if they receive their degree within eighteen (18) months prior to when accreditation is conferred, and if the program can verify that the student completed the CACREP program requirements. Therefore, if UTRGV is accredited in April 2018, graduates of the program who completed the requirements of the program that was put forward for accreditation review would be considered graduates of a CACREP-accredited program if they graduated after August 2016. The first UTRGV cohort (Fall 2015) anticipated graduation is August 2018.  So, all UTRGV students should graduate with CACREP accreditation. ***

Faculty Seminar Series

The Faculty Seminar series continues in the Spring semester with five intriguing presenters and topics. Students are required to attend one faculty seminar each semester and write a 1-2 page reflection paper. Faculty seminars are 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Presenters and topics are listed below.

Brownsville Counseling Student Association (BCSA)

The Brownsville Counseling Student Association (BCSA) will meet at the Brownsville campus in BMAIN 2.236 at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 30th.  The presenter and topic for the workshop will be announced soon.  Practicum and Internship students can clock indirect hours by attending this workshop.  The BCSA business meeting will follow the presentation.

Edinburg Counseling Student Association (ECSA)

The Edinburg Counseling Student Association (ECSA) will meet at the Edinburg campus in in EEDUC 1.504 (the "Red Room" in the Education Building) on Saturday, January 23rd at 10:00 a.m. The presenter and topic for the workshop will be announced soon.  Practicum and Internship students can clock indirect hours by attending this workshop.  The ECSA business meeting will follow the presentation.

CPCE Online Registration for the Exam

Students in Practicum or Internship are encouraged to register for the Counselor Preparation Comprehensive Examination (CPCE).  Passing the exam is a requirement for graduation.  The next administration of the CPCE will be Saturday, March 31st from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in Edinburg and Brownsville.  Registration is $20 online, then an additional $70 money to prepay for the exam through Pearson.  Registration is available at: http://www.utrgv.edu/testing/
