Hundreds share their discoveries at first UTRGV-DHR Research Symposium

UTRGV medical resident and colleagues conduct study on prevalence of murine typhus in the Valley
Dr. Zeeshan Afzal, a third-year medical resident in the UTRGV Family Medicine Residency Program at McAllen Medical Center, conducted a study on the prevalence of murine typhus, a flea-borne disease, in the Rio Grande Valley.

UTRGV School of Medicine awarded grant for suicide education, prevention program.
RIO GRANDE VALLEY, TEXAS – AUG. 10, 2017 – The UTRGV School of Medicine’s Office of Counseling and Wellness has been awarded a three-year grant in the amount of $304,490 by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) to implement a Campus Suicide Prevention Program (CSPP). UTRGV was the only university in Texas to receive the award.  Read the full release.
