UTRGV School of Medicine to open specialty pediatrics clinic
UTRGV has purchased this existing shell building on Crosspoint Boulevard in Edinburg to house the UTRGV School of Medicine Pediatrics Clinic. The sale was finalized in May and project completion is estimated for September 2017.
EDINBURG, TEXAS – JUNE 14, 2017 – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley School of Medicine is planning to open a pediatrics clinic soon, to help meet the needs of specialty pediatric care in the community. Read the full release.
City of Pharr continues commitment to UTRGV School of Medicine with $500,000 donation

PHARR, TEXAS — JUNE 13, 2017 — The City of Pharr continued its support of The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley School of Medicine (SOM) by presenting the school with a check for $500,000 Tuesday, June 13. This is the second donation the City of Pharr has made to SOM as part of a memorandum of understanding UTRGV signed with Pharr and other local government entities. The City of Pharr has committed to give $500,000 annually to support the School of Medicine. Read the full release.
UTRGV names Dr. John H. Krouse new dean of the School of Medicine
Dr. John H. Krouse, new vice president for Medical Affairs and dean of the School of Medicine. RIO GRANDE VALLEY, TEXAS—MAY, 11, 2017— The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley has named Dr. John H. Krouse as its new vice president for Medical Affairs and dean of the School of Medicine.

Krouse comes to the Valley from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he serves as the senior associate dean for clinical affairs; president of Temple University Physicians; professor and chairman of the Department of Otolaryngology—Head and Neck Surgery; and director of the Head and Neck Institute at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine. He also served as associate dean for Graduate Medical Education from 2012 to 2015.
