This weekend the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley will host the 59th annual Rio Grande Valley Regional Science and Engineering Fair on the UTRGV Brownsville and Texas Southmost College campuses.
In 1996, Ruben Reyes had to come up with a science fair project for his Advanced Placement physics class at Rivera High School, and the experience changed his life.
Reyes was a junior then and still not quite sure what he would do after graduation. The project he and two friends devised was so successful it qualified for that year’s Intel International Science and Engineering Fair in Tucson, Ariz..
BROWNSVILLE, TEXAS – FEB. 8, 2018 – More than 700 middle and high school students from across South Texas participated in the 58th annual Rio Grande Valley Regional Science and Engineering Fair, hosted by The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley on Sat. Feb. 3.
Students competed in 17 science-related fields of study. The top three winners from each category, both senior and junior divisions, now advance to the Texas State Science and Engineering Fair in San Antonio in March.
