Training Calendar for Active Law Enforcement Personnel
The following training sessions are offered to active law enforcement personnel (corrections, local, state and federal).

All courses are free. Pre-registration is required.
- REGISTER ONLINE at www.utrgv.edu/police/training
- A minimum of 10 students must be present for a course to continue. Students will be notified within 48 hours in case of cancellation.
- Training is ONLY available to active personnel (corrections, local, state & federal).
- Students that wish to cancel, must use the same sign-up system they used to register initially.
- Students’ failure to cancel with proper notification to the training officer within 72 hrs of starting of the class, will cause a loss of training privileges at our training facility (for all and any training hosted, sponsored or provided) for a period of no less than 6 months from the date of the class in question.

Class/Training Details
- SPACE IS LIMITED, REGISTER ONLINE AT THE LINK PROVIDED. WALK-INS ARE NOT ALLOWED.
- Training is ONLY available to active personnel (corrections, communications, probation, police - local, state & federal).
- Students that wish to cancel, must use the same sign-up system they initially used to register.
- Students’ failure to cancel with proper notification to the training officer within 72 hours of starting of the class, will cause a loss of training privileges at our training facility (for all and any training hosted, sponsored or provided) for a period of no less than 6 months from the date of the class in question.
- Training dress attire is business casual or uniform, off-duty and plainclothes armed officers must display badge while on campus and have LEO credentials radily available.
- This campus is a tobacco free campus.
- Upon arrival please contact the parking and traffic lobby right outside the training room and request a temporary parking permit, they are free for up to 3 days.
- All training courses are free unless otherwise stated in the registration link, see registration link/flyer for details.
*1 Students must bring bicycle (with pedal retention and front and rear light), eye protection, helmet, hydration system, full gear belt and complete bike patrol uniform.
*2 Students seeking the MHO Certification must meet the following requirements:
- currently appointed as a peace officer, county jailer or justice of the peace;
- at least two years experience as a peace officer, county jailer or justice of the peace;
- if not currently a commissioned peace officer or county jailer an applicant must meet the current enrollment standards;
- if an applicant is a commissioned peace officer, an applicant must not ever have had a license or certificate issued by the commission suspended or revoked;
- if an applicant is a commissioned peace officer or county jailer an applicant must have met the continuing education requirements for the previous training cycle;
- successful completion of a training course in emergency first aid and lifesaving techniques (Red Cross or equivalent);
- and successful completion of the current mental health officer training course and pass the approved examination for mental health officer proficiency.
*3 Students seeking to participate in this class must be IPMBA certified.
*4 As per TCOLE rules, "to qualify for an advanced instructor proficiency certificate, an applicant must meet all proficiency requirements including: holding a TCOLE Instructor license/certificate for at least three years."
