Cooperative Pharmacy Program

The CPP is best described as a “Pre-Pharmacy + 2 + 2” program. Students admitted into the CPP are provided with a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA). The MOA details the CPP requirements which include GPA, PCAT Scores, community service, and other criteria. Students are expected to complete all pharmacy pre-requisites at UTRGV and all contractual MOA requirements. Upon successful completion, the CPP student applies to The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy (UTCOP) and is guaranteed an interview.

If the applicant to the UTCOP is successful in each required step, the student matriculates to the Austin campus to complete the first two professional years of the pharmacy curriculum, and then returns to the UTRGV Edinburg campus to complete the professional third and fourth years of the pharmacy curriculum.

Students admitted into the CPP automatically qualify for admission into the accelerated 3-year Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences (BS-BMED) program. This degree is intended to serve as a foundation for students pursuing a career in healthcare and seeking admission into profession schools, such as pharmacy. It should be noted CPP students are NOT required to enroll into the BS-BMED program. Information about the BS-BMED program can be found at:
