Chair's Welcome
The Cooperative Pharmacy Program will be phased out by 2020. As of Fall 2018, The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley/The University of Texas at Austin Cooperative Pharmacy Program will no longer exist in its current structure. The program is being phased out over the next two years. UTRGV and the College of Health Affairs remain fully supportive and committed to all current CPP students.
What does this mean for current CPP students?
If you are on track and have not breached your memorandum of agreement, you still qualify for an automatic interview with The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy (UTCOP). Those of you that have breached the memorandum of agreement and are considered “transitional” status should still apply to UTCOP according to your timeline.
All CPP students will continue to be mentored and groomed by faculty to apply to pharmacy school. Please continue to contact your faculty advisor as before for advisement appointments. Students that successfully matriculate to UTCOP will not be returning to the RGV for the 3rd professional year (P3); however, you may still select the RGV as your preferred region for the 4th professional year (P4).
What lies in the future?
UTRGV is on the brink of many exciting new developments. The development of a stand-alone pharmacy school is on the horizon!
We hope that you will continue to consider UTRGV as you make your plans for a career in Pharmacy.
Sincerely,
Lydia Aguilera, BS Pharm, PharmD, Chair
