The Graduate Certificate in Advanced Spanish Literature is a program designed for High School Teachers of Advanced Placement (AP) Spanish.

About the Program

This Program is composed of four existing courses in the Spanish MA program of the Department of Modern Languages, and its goal is to delve into the contents proper of the AP Spanish Literature courses. The Program may also serve to gain credits towards the completion of the MA in Spanish at the Department of Modern Languages. The courses are offered both in the classroom and online.

Students receive an official diploma from The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley upon the successful completion of the Program.

Admissions Criteria

Admission Requirements include evidence of academic achievement and potential for advanced study and research. Specific admission requirements are:

  • Personal interview (online)
  • Letter of recommendation from the student’s undergraduate faculty advisor
  • Satisfactory performance on the Spanish essay.
  • Satisfactory performance on the translation of a document from English to Spanish and from Spanish to English.
  • Online Application
    Submit your application and one-time $50 application fee online.
  • Official Transcript
    Submit transcripts from all colleges and/or universities.
