Mission
The Center for Online Learning and Teaching Technology, a department of the Office of Student Success, supports and fulfills the mission of the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley by providing services and facilities that promote, support, and integrate best pedagogical practices in applied technologies in teaching, learning, and research for traditional and web-based learning offerings.
Vision
The Center for Online Learning and Teaching Technology strives to become a center of excellence for educational technology through supporting, initiating and implementing applied research for the integration of technology in the curriculum.
History
One of the many challenges faced by UTRGV has been to provide higher education access to the people of a bicultural, international borderland that includes the Rio Grande Valley of South Texas, and the Northeastern regions of Mexico.
In responding to that challenge, The University made a commitment to embrace technology as a primary means of reaching out to this geographically and culturally diverse population. Today, The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley is recognized as a leader in the use of technology to deliver quality higher education programming to its predominantly Hispanic service area.
