Major Requirements (36 Hours)

Required Core Courses (15 Hours)

  • MASC 2301: Introduction to Mexican American Studies
  • MASC 3332/HIST 3332: Mexican American History
  • 6 hours of SPAN at any level
  • MASC 4300 Learning & Reflective Service (Capstone Experience)

Required Flexible Courses (12 Hours)

  • 6 Hours from MASC Humanities Courses
  • 6 Hours from MASC Core Social Behavioral Sciences, Education, and/or Health Sciences Courses

Electives (9 Hours)

  • 9 Hours of electives

New courses and special topics courses appear all of the time. Any course with a minimum 50% MAS content may be petitioned as part of a students’ degree plan. Classes are available at both Brownsville & Edinburg Campuses
