Edinburg
Collaborative Learning Space
The Collaborative Learning Space at the University Library-Edinburg is the result of a $400,000 renovation. Remodeled over 8 months in 2014 - 2015, it is designed to bring together students and faculty from all disciplines for creative collaboration and to encourage digital and information literacy.
The open collaborative learning space houses approximately 79 desktop and laptop computers, including a quiet computer lab for focused study. The commons features free printing, including wireless printing from personal laptops, scanning and copier facilities.
Quiet zones and study areas, including individual study carols on the west side of the 2nd floor, provide ample space for focusing on assignments and a convenient place to plug in your laptop. In addition, 3 private study rooms - which feature white boards - are available to reserve in advance and are ideal for mapping out team projects and honing presentation skills.
An informal seating area near the entrance makes it easy for students to stop between classes to catch up on current bestsellers and browse the leisure reading collection.
Instruction Rooms
Two rooms on the 1st floor, 1.122 and 1.123, are used for library instruction and workshops.
Each classroom is equipped with 48 and 40 computer workstations, respectively. Both classrooms have a whiteboard and a multi-purpose instructor's workstation.
Please note: the library instruction rooms are not openly reservable computer classrooms. If you need a computer classroom, contact the IT Scheduling Office Monday - Friday 8:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. at (956) 665-5343.
