vSoftware

Description

vSoftware provides a fast and easy way to download the latest versions of Microsoft Windows. This is one of the many services Information Technology provides to UTRGV Students, Faculty and Staff. Since the software distribution is completely electronic, this allows us to pass on the cost savings to the users.

Purpose

To Provide Microsoft Windows Software at a reduced price to UTRGV Students, Faculty and Staff Microsoft Software/Microsoft Office.

Students

  • Students can download a copy of the latest Microsoft Windows at no cost.  
  • Software must be downloaded during the 31 day period that begins at the date of purchase. For an additional $4.95, the download period can be extended to two years (This is helpful in case you have to replace a hard drive on your computer or you get a new computer). 
  • Students are entitled to install Windows on one computer. 
  • Office can be installed on one desktop computer and one laptop computer for your exclusive use. 
  • Office or Windows on DVD is available for $13.95 per title.  
  • When students graduate, they become permanently licensed for products covered at the time of graduation. If students leave the University without graduating, they must remove all products obtained under the Microsoft Campus Agreement. For more information on eligibility requirements please read the Microsoft Campus Agreement.

Faculty and Staff

  • Faculty and Staff can download a copy of the latest version of Microsoft Windows at $9.75 per titles
  • Software must be downloaded during the 31 day period that begins at the date of purchase. For an additional $4.95, the download period can be extended to two years (This is helpful in case you have to replace a hard drive on your computer or you get a new computer) .
  • Office or Windows on DVD is available for $13.95 per title.
  • Employees are entitled to install Windows on one computer
  • Office can be installed on one desktop computer and one laptop computer for your exclusive use.
  • Faculty and staff who install the home use software must uninstall the software from their personally-owned computer when they leave employment at the UT System, or if the software is no longer made available for their use at work.

Hours of Availability

Desktop support is available Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Service Access

  • UTRGV Computers
    •  UTRGV computers running Microsoft Windows: the software is available through the Control Panel (Start Menu/Control Panel) by clicking the "Run Advertised Programs" icon located in the "Programs" category.
    •  UTRGV computers running Mac OS X: customers must submit a Service Request (instructions below) or contact the IT Help Desk to request software installation
      • IT staff will try to install software via Remote Support whenever possible or make arrangements for an on-site visit.
  • Personal Computers

vSoftware (latest Microsoft Office and Windows)

    • Login in to my.utrgv.edu
    • Click the vSoftware icon under Applications
    • Click Start Shopping and Check Out
    • Accept and Sign the License Agreement
    • Complete Checkout process
    • Download Software
    • Save your Product Key and Download files for your records

Office 365 ProPlus 

    • Login in to my.utrgv.edu
    • Click the Office 365 icon under Applications 
    • Click Office 365 from the top menu
    • If prompted, enter your full UTRGV email address and then enter your password
    • Click the Install Now button 
    • Click Run on the pop-up window and follow the installation wizard prompts to complete installation

Service Request

  • Log in to my.utrgv.edu
  • Click the ServiceNow icon under Applications
  • Click Service Request
  • Fill in the required fields 
    • Short Description: Software Download and Installation Assistance
    • Service Request Description: State the Software that will be downloaded/purchased
  • Click Order Now

Technical Support

Submit an IT Help Request through ServiceNow. Log in to my.utrgv.edu, then click on the ServiceNow icon under Applications, click on Something broken?
