Request a New File Share

  1. Log in to my.utrgv.edu.
  2. Click the ServiceNow icon under Applications.
  3. Click File Share under Need New Service?
  4. Select Self or On Behalf of under Options.
    • NOTE: Select On Behalf of, if you're opening a request on behalf of someone else.
  5. Select the Name of the person requesting the service
    • NOTE: Your name is the default. If you're submitting a request on behalf of someone else, click the magnifying glass icon to search for their name. Verify the user you selected is correct by hovering the mouse pointer over the User Information icon.
  6. Enter the Building name or click the magnifying glass icon to search for the building name.
  7. Select the City of the University campus from the drop-down list.
  8. Select the Department drop-down list.
  9. Enter Name of Share.
    • Share Name Requirements: File Share name cannot have spaces or special characters, and must be less than 32 characters.
  10. Enter Share Owner.
    • More Information: If you are adding additional users to an existing File Share, please make sure the Share Owner is correct. If it is not, you will need to re-submit the request with correct information.
  11. From the Sensitive Data drop-down list, select Yes or No.
  12. From the Quota Requested drop-down list, select High (GB), Medium (GB), or Low (GB).
  13. Enter a Justification (reason for requesting the File Share).
  14. To Grant Read Permissions to this File Share, enter the user's name or click the magnifying glass icon to search for their name, then select to add their name to the list.
  15. To Grant Write Permissions to this File Share, enter the user's name or click the magnifying glass icon to search for their name, then select to add their name to the list.
  16. Click Order Now.
