Create a Data File (.olm) Outlook 2011 for Mac

To create a Outlook Data File (.olm) - Outlook 2010:

When you run Outlook for Mac Data File for the first time, the necessary data files are created automatically. Sometimes additional data files are needed. Older messages and items that you do not use regularly can be archived to an Outlook Data File (.olm). Also, if your online mailbox is near the storage quota, you can have them moved to the Outlook Data File (.olm).

  1. On the File menu, click Export.
  2. Click Outlook for Mac Data File.
  3. Select the option to filter by category or item type.
    To export all items in Outlook, click Items of the following types, and then select all the check boxes.
  4. Click the right arrow to continue, then follow the instructions.

    NOTE: If you have a Microsoft Exchange account or directory services account, contacts from the directory are not exported as well as public folders.

    An Outlook for Mac Data File does not contain account settings or your Outlook preferences.
