Connect to Wireless Network

Laptop with Windows

  1. Click on the Wi-Fi icon in the systems tray.
  2. Click on eduroam, then click the Connect button.
  3. In the User name field enter your full UTRGV Email Address and then enter your password.
  4. If you receive a Windows Security Alert, click on Connect.

Apple iOS device:

You can configure your iOS (iPhone, iPad, iPod touch) devices to access the UTRGV wireless network manually by following these instructions:

  1. Select Settings from the home screen.
  2. Select Wi-Fi from the Settings Screen.
  3. Make sure Wi-Fi is turned on, and select eduroam from the list of available networks.
  4. When prompted enter your full UTRGV email address.
  5. Enter your UTRGV password.
  6. You may be prompted to accept a security certificate select the Accept button.
  7. Once the Certificate is accepted the new network eduroam should appear in the network list with a checkmark appearing next to the network name. This confirms that the network was added and connected to successfully.

Android device

You can manually configure your Android device to access the UTRGV wireless network by following the steps below. Only devices running Android 2.3 Gingerbread or later will be able to connect.

  1. Go to Settings, and select Wi-Fi.
  2. Select eduroam from the list of available networks.
  3. Complete the following:
    • Identity: Enter your full UTRGV email address
    • Anonymous identity: Leave blank*
    • Password: Your UTRGV password
    • Touch Connect

If you have difficulty connecting, check the other available fields to ensure they have the proper settings:

    • Network SSID: eduroam
    • Security: 802.1x Enterprise
    • EAP method: PEAP
    • Phase 2 authentication: MSCHAPV2
    • Identity: Enter your full UTRGV email address
    • Anonymous identity: Leave blank*
    • Password: Your UTRGV password

If your phone has additional fields to fill, you may leave them blank.

*Note: Some phones may require for you to type the UTRGV username again in the Anonymous Identity field.

Some phones require you to enter your credential storage password after every reboot to reconnect to the network. To do this, follow these instructions:

  1. Go to Settings, and select Wi-Fi settings.
  2. Select eduroam network.
  3. You will be prompted to enter your credential storage password. This is not your UTRGV password. This password was setup during the phone's initial setup.
  4. After entering this password successfully click on the Connect button.
