Frequently Asked Questions- FAQ

Are freshman required to live on campus?

Freshman living more than 60 miles away are recommended to live on campus. Freshman having earned fewer than 30 semester credit hours (excluding Advanced Placement and Concurrent Enrollment hours), or who are enrolled for nine or more semester credit hours during the fall and/or spring semesters are required to reside in a University-owned residence hall.  Students can receive an exemption if they meet the appropriate requirements and provide documentation.

What if I live less than 60 miles away, can I still live on campus?

Yes, everyone is welcome to live at our Residence Halls despite their distance away from any of our campuses.

Can freshman live in the apartments?

The Village spaces are usually reserved for upperclassmen and graduate students.

What are my payment options?

Residence Hall room and board fees may be paid in full at the time of move-in. An installment plan of four scheduled payments is also available. The installment option has an additional fee for set up.

What is the $150 housing deposit for?

The housing deposit is a partially refundable deposit that is used to replace any broken items in the room/apartment or pay for excessive cleaning after your stay. Deposits rollover from year to year.

Can I get a single room?

There are a limited number of single rooms available in the residence halls. Those with a medical need for a single room will take priority and must be registered with the Office of Disability Services. Not all requests for a single room will be honored.

What are the basic rules?

Our rules are based on safety and respect. There is no curfew; however, each residence hall has visitation hours and quiet hours to respect.

What happens if I lock myself out?

If you are locked out, contact the “on-call” RA to let you back in your room.

What if I don’t like my roommate?

Our staff aims to match roommates with the same type of sleeping, study, social, and recreational habits. If you and your roommate are having problems, contact you RA and they will help resolve the issues.

Is smoking permitted in the rooms and building?

Smoking is not permitted inside any of the buildings or courtyards. No smoking within 25 feet of residence halls. This includes the use of e-cigarettes.
