BROWNSVILLE, TEXAS – AUG. 30, 2017 – A spirited crowd of new and returning Vaqueros walked away with free swag and enjoyed some great food and entertainment during The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley’s signature event, The Stomp. The event is part of Best Week Ever festivities, which kicked off the Fall 2017 semester and celebrate the university’s second anniversary. The Stomp, one of two during the week, was held at the Brownsville Campus Student Union Lawn on Tuesday, August 29.

The Stomp is always a great opportunity for UTRGV students to connect with university departments, academic programs, student organizations, area merchants and community service agencies.

Best Week Ever continues Thursday, Aug. 31, from 5-7 p.m., with The Stomp on the Edinburg Campus at the University Recreation Building Main Gym.

For more information about Best Week Ever, call Student Involvement at (956) 665-2660 in Edinburg or (956) 882-5111 in Brownsville.

The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) was created by the Texas Legislature in 2013 as the first major public university of the 21st century in Texas. This transformative initiative provided the opportunity to expand educational opportunities in the Rio Grande Valley, including a new School of Medicine, and made it possible for residents of the region to benefit from the Permanent University Fund – a public endowment contributing support to the University of Texas System and other institutions.

UTRGV has campuses and off-campus research and teaching sites throughout the Rio Grande Valley including in Boca Chica Beach, Brownsville (formerly The University of Texas at Brownsville campus), Edinburg (formerly The University of Texas-Pan American campus), Harlingen, McAllen, Port Isabel, Rio Grande City, and South Padre Island. UTRGV, a comprehensive academic institution, enrolled its first class in the fall of 2015, and the School of Medicine welcomed its first class in the summer of 2016.
