Engaged Scholarship & Learning - Undergraduate Research
You may be worried, asking yourself, "How do I get started with undergraduate research? It sounds so difficult." Have no fear! The research process is straightforward and easy to understand.
As an undergraduate researcher, you find an academic gap in knowledge and pose a question through specific disciplinary methods. After developing your methodology, you then put your research into practice! Once data is collected, you disseminate and present your learned knowledge with peers.

Funding Resources
for travel from July 1 – October 14, 2018
Deadline: May 14, 2018
Our office is pleased to announce the third cycle of the 2017-18 Faculty Travel Support Program; the deadline for applications is May 14, 2018. The maximum travel support that may be requested is $800. All tenure-track/tenured faculty and three-year non-tenure-track faculty at UTRGV are eligible to apply. If the number of applications for travel during the priority travel period/cycle exceeds the allocated funding, however, priority will be given to applicants who are working toward promotion (e.g., Assistant Professors, Associate Professors, Lecturers below the rank of Senior Lecturer, etc.).
Faculty members may apply for up to $800 in travel funds to match a Department’s/School’s travel support for the presentation of research/creative work at a major academic/professional conference or exhibition during the priority travel period/cycle. This Program is intended to supplement, not replace, Departmental/School travel funding, which will remain the primary source for funding faculty travel. Thus, cost-sharing by Departments/Schools is required unless the Chair/Director certifies that all Departmental/School travel funds have been exhausted. More detailed information regarding this funding program can be found in the Guidelines.
