Students need to contact the Academic Advising Center at Southwick Hall 101 (Edinburg campus) or Main 1.400 (Brownsville campus).

I am a returning or a transfer student not currently enrolled, where do I go to get advising?
Once a student has applied and been admitted to UTRGV a student may take an appointment to meet with a program coordinator. To make an advisement appointment for any business major email: business.advising@utrgv.edu

I am on Academic Recovery: Previously on Academic Probation/Suspension, where do I go for advisement?
Student can contact the Academic Advising Center and make an appointment via Grades First, if not currently enrolled contact them at (956) 665-7120 or go to Southwick Hall 101A (Edinburg campus) to set an appointment.

I am a continuing student, where do I go for advisement?
CoBE majors, SO, JR, and SR classifications can make an appointment through GRADEFIRST.
Go to Web page but do not log in to myUTRGV then under Resources click on GRADES FIRST, log in with UTRGV credentials to make appointment and choose CoBE.

I am a CoBE student, do I need to attend mandatory advisement?
Only students in special populations will have mandatory advisement holds and will be contacted by the respective advising departments that will be servicing them. A CoBE student who does not have a mandatory advisement hold is not required to attend but is encouraged to meet with a program coordinator for advisement.

How early should I be at my appointment?
It is recommended that you arrive at least 10 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time.

What if I am late to my appointment?
Appointments are currently scheduled for 30 minutes each, if you are late 5 minutes you will need to reschedule your appointment.

What if I cancel or have to miss my appointment?
If you need to cancel an appointment, it is recommended you do so at least 24 hours in advance and/or if you miss your appointment you will be noted as a "No Show" and will need to reschedule.

What should I do to be prepared for my advising session?
Students can prepare for their advising session by reviewing their academic record or degree works via my.UTRGV.edu through Assist. A student can review and compare the academic record against the UTPA or UTB/TSC legacy crosswalk/Program of Study (degree plan) and/or a UTRGV Program of Study (degree plan) by obtaining it from the UTRGV Web site.
Check for updates to current students crosswalk UTB /TSC & UTPA.
Check for updates to UTRGV undergraduate programs.
Create a tentative schedule and review the academic policies and bring any questions to the session.

When do I register for next semester?
Your academic level determines the dates you can begin to register: students can check the UTRGV registration schedule or check Assist via my.UTRGV.edu

What course numbers do I use for registration?
Use the UTRGV course numbers that are on your UTB/TSC/UTPA legacy crosswalk or UTRGV Program of Study (degree plan).

Will my UTPA or UTB/TSC legacy degree plan change to the UTRGV degree plan?
If you attended Fall 2014, Spring 2015, or Summer I 2015; then you were grandfathered into the UTB/TSC or UTPA legacy degree plan. The degree plan does not change, the only thing that changes is the course numbers for some courses. If you did not attend Fall 2014, Spring 2015 or Summer I 2015, then you will need to follow the UTRGV degree plan unless otherwise advised (if clarification is needed, meet with a CoBE program coordinator).
You will only have until Spring/Summer 2019 (tentatively) to complete the requirements to the UTB/TSC or UTPA legacy degreen plan crosswalk if not you will be changed to the UTRGV degree plan and will have to complete its requirements for graduation.

Can I change from a UTB/TSC or UTPA legacy degree plan crosswalk to a UTRGV degree plan?
Yes, a student may change plans and/or majors to a UTRGV degree plan. You should review and discuss the differences in requirements and consider your graduation timeline and what is in your best interest with a program coordinator or academic advisor.

Can I change my major within the UTB/TSC or UTPA degree plan crosswalks?
Yes, a student will be able to change majors within the UTB/TSC or UTPA legacy degree plans but most complete the plan by 2019.

Can I change my minor or declare a new minor within the UTB/TSC or UTPA legacy degree plan crosswalks?
Yes, a student who is following a UTB/TSC or UTPA legacy degree plan may change or declare a minor within the legacy plans they are following but most complete degree plan requirements by 2019. UTB/TSC or UTPA legacy students may not follow UTRGV minors.

If I transfer to UTRGV and have taken courses at another institution, how will I know if they will transfer?
Students can research the UTRGV Web site and the institution they are currently attending prior to applying for admissions or taking courses at said institution. Students can also access the Texas Common course numbering system and compare institutions.

If I want to transfer to another institution, will my UTRGV courses transfer?
Students can research the institution they plan to attend prior to applying for admissions or taking courses at UTRGV to obtain a degree plan from the planned transfer institution. Students can also access the Texas Common course numbering system and compare institutions.

What GPA is used for graduation?
UTRGV Native GPA will be calculated and used to determine graduation requirements. Transferred credit will not be calculated into the UTRGV Native GPA but if determined transferable by the Admissions office courses and meet the degree requirements may be used.

How do I apply for graduation and when are the deadlines?
Contact UCENTRAL (Registrar) for graduation deadlines and applications.

How do I apply to CoBE?
Please apply to CoBE if you have at least 15 hours of general education work completed you must have a 2.5 GPA (a completed business foundation coursework) or (2.7 or higher if in final business foundation courses) when GPA is calculated for these areas.
Apply to the College of Business & Entrepreneurship.

Which QUMT do I need to take?
For students following the UTPA legacy crosswalks: If QUMT 2342 (or an equivalent Business Calculus/Calculus courses) and QUMT 3343 has not been completed, then both QUMT 2341 and QUMT 3341 must be taken as a two-course sequence.
For students following the UTRGV programs of study: complete this sequence of QUMT 2341 and QUMT 3341 unless otherwise advised by a CoBE program coordinator.
Note: (UTPA MATH 2330 Elementary Statistics) or (UTRGV MATH 1342 Elementary Statistics) does not count towards either plan.
