Campus Suicide Prevention Training Program
The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley School of Medicine’s Office of Counseling and Wellness was awarded a 3 year grant in the amount of $304,490.00 by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) to implement a Campus Suicide Prevention Program (CSPP) in collaboration with the UTRGV Counseling Center (CC) and the Office of Continuing Education. Additional support for the proposal was also received from theUTRGV Office of Victim Advocacy and Violence Prevention, the Valley Baptist Medical Center, and the Tropical Texas Behavioral Health Center. UTRGV was the only university in the state of Texas to receive the award.

- Promote the availability of timely treatment and support services.
- Improve suicide prevention surveillance collection, research, and evaluation.

Enedina Enriquez, LCSW
Ms. Nina Enriquez is a Lecturer II with the UTRGV Department of Social Work for the last 5 years. She has been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker for four and a half years. Her scope of practice has been in a hospice setting for the past 11 years. She has been working with terminally ill patients, their families and children providing grief and bereavement services. Mrs. Enriquez graduated with her Bachelors of Social Work from UTPA in 1998. She returned to UTPA for her Master’s in Social Work and graduated in 2007. She attained her License in Clinical Social Work in 2011 and has devoted working as a grief therapist with hospice agencies and local funeral homes. She has served as a consultant for both local and out of the Valley hospice agencies developing clinical social services and bereavement programs. She resides in San Juan with her husband. She has two children and four grandchildren.
