Are you an accomplished teacher looking to move into a school leadership position? UTRGV's online Principal Credential Program opens up new opportunities to serve diverse learners as a culturally responsive educational leader by preparing you to acquire your principal certification.

If you have at least 2 years of professional teaching experience and a 3.0 GPA in any master's program within a related field, this online program is for you.

Courses

This course provides a study of human resources and school budgeting functions. An overview of the supervision of classroom instruction and evaluation of instructional personnel will be covered. Applicable laws, policies and regulations will be addressed. Ethical principles and integrity in decision-making, actions and behaviors will also be emphasized.
This course examines a study of the unique leadership functions of the principalship as they relate to management and instructional aspects of school programs. Attention will be given to how the sociocultural forces, internal and external constituencies, and emerging issues impact the leader’s role in creating culturally responsive learning environments. Applicable laws, policies and regulations will be emphasized. Ethical principles and integrity in decision-making, actions and behaviors will also be covered.
This course emphasizes an examination of self and the study of major organizational leadership models and their applicability in various school settings.
